Frequently asked questions (FAQs):

Q: How long did this take you to do?
A: I created the first save file on April 1st (no joke) then I procrastinated it until the 18th of April. From then, I carried on working on it until the 22nd. Over-all it took about 15-20 hours to make.

Q: How do you get a tempo of over 500?
A: If you’re asking me this question now then that means you’re using an out-dated version of Mario Paint Composer. Re-download it if you do.

Q: How do I get this version of Mario Paint? My one has a purple scroll bar and no Download/Upload Songs button.
A: This was an older version of Mario Paint Composer. The one you have is an updated version and I’d recommend sticking with it. The Download/Upload Songs button got taken down in V2 because it never worked.

Q: Did you just download this and put it up on Youtube or did you actually make it yourself?
A: I made it myself with the assistance of a MIDI. Unfortunatly, I cannot remember who made the MIDI. Also, if you’re wondering if I used the button on the top right of the screen, you’d be wrong.

Q: Why don’t you credit the person that made the MIDI? And where can I get the MIDI?
A: I’m not entirely sure of the name of the creator but you can download the MIDI of it here: http://www.midiplaza.com/songs/209 (That’s not where I downloaded it originally which is why I have my doubts that that is the original MIDI creator)

Q: How do you merge the save files together?
A: Well back in those days, I used Windows Movie Maker to edit them together. But nowadays, we have the arranger function which lets you play on save file straight after another. I’d only recommend video editing if it lags too much for you with the arranger.

Q: What did you use to record this?
A: Camstudio. There are plenty of tutorials on how to use it on Youtube. Download it here: http://www.camstudio.org/CamStudio20.exe

Q: How did you figure out the notes via MIDI?
A: I used a MIDI notation device.

Q: So you didn’t do this by ear?
A: …no sir, I didn’t… Though I wish I did.

Q: Would you be willing to re-create this with all of the latest methods (E.G. Dickspeed and soundfonts)?
A: No, I dislike Dragonforce.

Q: Could you do a song by *name of song by a band*.
A: If you’re asking me to do a song by an obscure band, chances are I won’t do it. I won’t do ANY metal music as it just doesn’t please my ears. I will not, under any circumstance, do rap music. Not because I don’t like it, but because the vocals have no solid melody to work around making it really strange to notate.

Q: Do you have a life?
A: As much of a life as a home-schooled 16 year old can have, I guess. :V

Q: Can I have the text files/.avi file so I can upload this onto my Youtube account?
A: No. Please don’t download this video and uploading it to your own account. One is enough, we don’t need more of the same video on Youtube.

House – Link’s Awakening on Mario Paint Composer

Posted: May 31, 2010 – 4:04 am

Time for a break from all the fancy, orchestrated, dickspeed crap I usually do.

This is just a nice rendition of the house theme from one of my top 3 favorite Zelda games: Link’s Awakening. Satoshi did call these “Zelda Gameboys”, didn’t he? ;D

Of course, the credit to recording goes to the awesome and etc., MC Gamer.

I like how this song is easy to listen to forever. That goal is probably what all video game musicians strive for.

All this took was a simple echo effect and that lower/higher-octave Yoshi. Great soundfonts, SatoshiLyish. ^_^

Go crazy.

Final Fantasy VI: The Magic House on Mario Paint Composer 2.0

Posted: May 11, 2010 – 3:28 am

This was another one of those random things that I suddenly decided to do.
It didn’t take too long to make, and it happens to be one of my favorite songs of the FF series.
Attributes:
Tempo: 874 and 830
Soundfont: Original MPC2.0
Done by Ear and by Memory

In light of all the work I’m getting these days, I’m probably going to be even slower in uploads that I usually am. ):

Mario Paint: Top Gun Combat Zones GBA Mission Briefing Scree

Posted: April 5, 2010 – 7:51 pm

Made and Recorded by Me. Does anyone watching this actually know the song?

This song is one from an old game boy advanced game i had somewhere in my house. I found it one day, started playing and I realized how horrible the game was and I was about to stop, until I heard this song.

Now, I have made it in Mario Paint Composer.

This is the first of hopefully many Mario Paint Composer Videos.
