I recently worked on a new client’s table changing it from this:
To this:
The clients let me have my way with the table and told me to “use your creativity to do whatever you want”. PRESSURE!!!
All furniture looks better with just a hint of crackle and a little aged stenciling, right?
Home Depot has a cheap harlequin stencil that works great on small projects like tables:

And if you crackle furniture at all…. the “Aqua Finishing Solutions” crackle system is absolutely the best on the market!
I wish I could get a better close-up of the crackle to show you! However… the day before I took these after pics… our family was at a Christmas lighting ceremony where we apparently lost our camera. I am still just sick. It was days before Ava turned 2 and I had over 300 pics on that camera.
We visited every store in the area the very next day praying someone had turned it in. I posted a “lost camera” on Craigslist. We have left our number with the business office of the shopping area. Don’t people know that “NOT returning something that isn’t yours…. is the same.thing.as.stealing”???
OK… back to my table. Sorry for the little verbal rampage. But, I miss my camera. Sniff.

Most of this project was completed in my living room! So much for having a studio, huh??? This pic was taken after the crackling and texture… but before the glaze and stenciling on top. One key to good crackle is a temperature controlled room. The garage.and even my studio were too cold to get this to crackle like I wanted. So the living room had to do!
The owners of this table are Jim and Debbie Wagy. Jim is an extremely talented musician and producer. If you like contemporary Christian worship… you can hear a clip of his new CD by going here or you can go to You Tube and search for “Jim Wagy“. If you still need a last minute Christmas gift for someone in your life, you can order a CD by emailing jbranson@wagys.com .
I’m crackling tables for famous folk! I love it!
I am linking up to Mustard Seed Creations and A Soft Place to Land for furniture parties. Be inspired!
Many blessings,
Jennifer
