Can I just paint over it without it coming back. Is there something I can add to my paint to stop the green mildew.
That happens to us here- we just put a weak bleach-water solution in one of those fertilizer sprayers and spray it on the affected areas. One application usually does it and lasts quite a while. I think we’ve only had to do that once a year, maybe every other year.

the best way i have found to get rid of the mildew is to use a pressure washer and use a solution of 70/30 mix of bleach water 70% bleach and 30% water. ensure you do the entire side of the home. after you have done this re-pressure wash the home with just water.

I have always used a product called JOMAX, it is a bleach activated product that is more environmentally friendly than just using bleach and water. It also has a better sheeting action so it covers better and there is less chance of leaving spots of mildew or algae. I usually wet the surface first and then spray it on with a hand sprayer (following the directions for mixture on the bottle) and then pressure wash it off.

Jomax can be purchased at my local Lowes and some paint dealers.
